Ocean State Follies Founder, Charlie Hall to Host Rhode Island’s Got Talent

Bristol, RI, April 23, 2008 -- The 2008 Rhode Island’s Got Talent show, presented by The East Bay Chamber of Commerce, is proud to announce Ocean State Follies founder, Charlie Hall as their Host/Master Of Ceremonies.

Rhode Island’s Got Talent plans to be an action-packed event showcasing the best Rhode Island talent – including some of the areas best performers. The Event will take place on August 16, 2008 at Barrington High School and $1,750 in cash prizes will be awarded to the winners.

“We’re so excited that Charlie, who is so quintessential Rhode Island, will be hosting the evening” said Betty Pleacher, President, East Bay Chamber.

Charlie Hall is the creative force behind the comedy cabaret that spoofs the state of RI aptly named Ocean State Follies (now in its 17th year) and the annual RI Comedy Festival. He now co-hosts a new TV show called 'Rhode Bytes' on NBC-10.

Mr. Hall has performed as a stand-up comic on the Joan Rivers Show, Caroline's Comedy Hour, MTV, Evening At the Improv, America's Funniest People and Star Search '93, where he was a semi-finalist. Since the mid-eighties, he has appeared as opening act for Rosie O'Donnell, Natalie Cole, Frankie Valli, Reba McIntire, Chicago, and Jerry Seinfeld to name a few. The multi-talented RISD grad is also a TV court artist, award-winning political cartoonist, author of 3 books, and even co-penned the official state song, Rhode Islandʼs It For Me.
