200+ North American Museums now honor Newport Art Museum memberships

Newport, RI: The value of the Newport Art Museum membership card you might have tucked in your wallet just shot up. The Museum was recently welcomed into the North American Reciprocal Membership Program or NARM. Newport Art Museum members at the Patron level or above ($150/year or more) can now gain free admission and member discounts at over 200 museums in the United States and Canada.

“This represents great value to our members,” says Rebecca Rex, the Museum’s director of development.

Like most cultural institutions, the Newport Art Museum lists various levels of membership participation, ranging from $35 for full-time students to $1000 for the Supporting Council. “The Patron level of membership has always been a good deal but now it’s even better,” says Rex. Museum Membership at the $150/year level covers an entire household as well as children and grandchildren who are accompanied by the Member, even if they don’t live in the same home. The Member receives a complimentary copy of one Museum exhibition catalogue and can also make use of two complimentary guest passes.

The Newport Art Museum’s collections and exhibitions focus on the visual artists of Newport and southeastern New England, reflecting both the rich heritage of the past and the lively art scene of the present. The Museum also offers art classes and camps, concerts, talks, trips, and special events throughout the year. The Newport Art Museum is fully accredited by the American Association of Museums and receives support from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts.

The Newport Art Museum is located at 76 Bellevue Avenue across from Touro Park. Admission: $6 adults; $5 seniors; $4 Military and students with valid ID; Museum members and children under 5: no charge. By donation Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon.
