Blackstone awards traffic-systems contract to Nestor

PROVIDENCE – Nestor Inc., the parent company of Providence-based Nestor Traffic Systems Inc., Thursday announced that the Town of Blackstone, Mass., has signed a three-year contract with NTS for automated traffic enforcement systems and services.

“By allowing for consistent and reliable enforcement, Nestor’s traffic enforcement systems offer a tremendous safety benefit to the Town of Blackstone,” said Police Chief Ross Astupenas.

The contract calls for NTS to install, maintain and operate its CrossingGuard automated red-light camera system at three approaches, and to provide two fixed speed enforcement units and two mobile speed enforcement units.

“We will assist [Blackstone] in providing a top-notch safety program that addresses the unique traffic demands of this small and growing town on the Rhode Island border,” said William Danzell, chief executive officer of NTS.

NTS’ chief operating officer, Todd Eikinas, added: “Our enforcement tools allow us to offer Blackstone advanced red-light and speed enforcement technology, supported from our local office in Providence …. Accurate detection translates to dependable citation issuance, and ultimately, to improving driver behavior.”

Nestor Traffic Systems, a subsidiary of Providence-based Nestor Inc. (Nasdaq: NEST), is a provider of video-based red-light enforcement and photo speed enforcement systems and services to state and municipal governments.
