PROVIDENCE – The Office of Health Systems Development at the R.I. Department of Health this month received six “certificate of need” applications for a combined $62.8 million worth of health care facilities onstruction projects across the state.
The single largest new application is from Bradley Hospital, which wants to build a 44,500-square-foot addition to its Laufer Building to accommodate its 60 licensed inpatient acute-care beds and expand outpatient programs. That project is valued at $32.77 million.
The Tockwotton Home is seeking a CON for its planned $11.87 million facility on the East Providence waterfront, with 52 licensed beds, compared with the current 42.
Rhode Island Hospital wants to build a $5.57 million “high-intensity” oncology and bone marrow transplantation program for adults and children.
The other projects involve moving Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island's hospice unit from Elmhurst Extended Care to North Main Street in Providence, and expanding it from 10 to 24 beds, at a cost of $7.33 million; $5 million in renovations to Genesis HealthCare’s Grand Islander Center nursing home; and creation of a 40-bed long-term acute care hospital on Landmark Medical Center’s Rehabilitation Hospital of Rhode Island campus, at a cost of $286,000.
