STAMFORD, Conn., March 5, 2009 Au Pair in America, the nation’s largest provider of live-in child care, today announced a child care industry first: the Au Pair in America Child Care Protection Plan. The plan allows Au Pair in America host families to receive a substantial refund and to keep their au pair for the remainder of their contract if one of the host parents loses their job.

“We want these families to know, Au Pair in America cares,” said Ruth Ferry, senior vice president and director of Au Pair in America. “Parents want what is best for their children and we all know that finding a new job can be full time work. It will come as a great relief to families to know that this plan will provide consistency for their kids with uninterrupted child care during a potential period of unemployment.”

For the increasing number of parents who are nervous about losing their jobs and are in need of live-in child care, the Au Pair in America Child Care Protection Plan will offer peace of mind and unprecedented security. Host families at their discretion may elect to either retain the au pair for the period of time remaining on their first 12-month term or request to void their contract.

“We know it’s easier to find a new job when you’ve got great child care. This new program should offer some solace while parents get back on their feet,” explained Ferry. “We’re all in this together, and we at Au Pair in America think it’ll be a little easier to get through it with a few more dollars in your pocket.”

The nation’s first and largest au pair program, Au Pair in America offers live-in child care which includes a legal J1 visa, screening, medical and liability insurance, flight arrangements, four-day orientation including Red Cross child safety training and 24×7 local support.
