Diverse Faith Religions Gather Together for Thanksgiving Service
Cranston, R.I. – On Sunday, November 18, 2012 at 6:00 PM, Woodridge United Church of Christ, will host a “Community Thanksgiving Service.” Participants who have accepted the invitation sent by Reverend Scott Spencer include members of; The Jerusalem Seventh Day Adventist (Haitian) Church, the First Korean Church of Rhode Island, St David’s on the Hill –Episcopal, The Edgewood United Church of Christ, and Temple Sinai (Jewish).
The service is open to all in our community and will hopefully be an opportunity to celebrate our diversity together in worship. The service will be about an hour long and include a blending of music, Biblical readings, prayers, and a brief message and include leadership from all congregations and honor all faith traditions.
We will have a “massed choir” under the direction of our minister of music. There will be one brief rehearsal on the night of the service at 4:30 pm. If you want to be part of the “massed choir” please contact our minister of music, Bob Nolan at nolan1213@verizon.net or (401) 942-0662.
We have scheduled the service earlier in the week of Thanksgiving so that it would not interfere with family preparations or travel plans. We are also hoping that by starting at 6 pm, parents will feel comfortable bringing children and young people.
