As part of its collaborative effort to promote Green Building Technology The Lightship Group formally presented The New England Institute of Technology with a cross-sectional building model built with kama Energy Efficient Building Systems (kama-EEBS) proprietary technology. The model will be used by the Institute to indoctrinate their Architectural, Engineering and Construction students in “Thermally Responsible” building techniques.

Traves W. Ogilvie, AIBD, of The Lightship Group explains “ At the root of the technology is an Insulated-Core Bridgeless Metal Framing System (ICBMF). Building envelop technology is advancing at a rate which we’ve never seen before. Driven by the need to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, providing a well insulated and properly sealed building envelop is step number one towards going green.”.

Lightship’s kama-EEBS system integrates light gauge steel into a rigid insulation core by means of a proprietary method that eliminates thermal bridging thus maximizing Energy Efficiency. Structures utilizing this technology can reduce their overall energy consumption by up to 60% while earning up to 23 LEED points.

The model – which consists of a roof, wall and floor section – was proudly accepted by Doug Sherman and Tom Thibodeau of New England Tech. This collaboration between the private sector and the academic world is testimony to Rhode island’s ongoing commitment to Green Technology and Green workforce training.
