(Providence-RI)— Melissa Manfre has been named Director of Digital Media for WLNE/ABC6 effective January 4th, 2010. The announcement was made today in Providence by WLNE/ABC6 Vice President and General Manager Steve Doerr. In her new role, Melissa will oversee all aspects of digital platforms, including abc6.com, hyper-local micro sites, and developing and launching a stand-alone site for the stations 24 hour cable news outlet News Channel 5. Manfre will also oversee the development of the stations CarsSNE automotive web site, and develop content and revenue opportunities for the stations over-the-air 6.2 channel.

“2010 is a critical year and as the media business continues to evolve, having a dedicated, knowledgeable executive drive our digital strategies is critically important,” Doerr stated. “Melissa has the respect of the local business community. We are pleased to have an executive of her caliber as we continue to move aggressively into this most important space.”

A graduate of Farleigh Dickenson University, Melissa has over 15 years of Sales and Marketing experience. Her impressive career includes retail and sports management positions. Most recently serving as Executive Director of Sales and Marketing /Director of Production for DiBella Entertainment in NEW YORK, where she over saw boxing events for Showtime, ESPN, HBO, and HBO Pay-Per-View and “Broadway Boxing”.

In 2005 Manfre created Steam Shovel Productions. Steam Shovel produces sporting events, music videos, feature films and documentaries.
