Summary: Popular Wakefield tavern to Host RI Charity 5k race Sunday offering great cash prizes and after party with ski & surf equipment raffle on Sunday November 22.

Wakefield, RI –

The Mews Tavern announced today their annual “Gear & Beer” 5k road race to benefit the South County RI Chapter of the Special Olympics. The event features numerous cash prizes, free t-shirts to the first 800 entrants, and a party where the Mews will be raffling off the latest in ski and surf equipment. This is also the first year the race will be implementing time chips, so that all runners will have the opportunity to know their exact times.

“Our annual 5k has always been a very well attended event, and we expect this year to be our biggest yet. We are offering cash prizes for men and women for breaking the course record, as well as cash prizes for different age categories. The raffle and party following the event are going to be memorable, so be sure to stick around after the race! To top it all off, the proceeds go to benefit a truly worthy cause, the South County Special Olympics. With events like these, everyone who participates is a winner.” said Dan Rubino, Owner.
