Dr. Stephen Hinshaw, chair of the Department of Psychology at UCAL-Berkeley, will discuss his new book, “The Triple Bind: Saving Our Teenage Girl’s from Today’s Pressures,” and the societal expectations, cultural trends, and conflicting messages that are creating what he calls a “triple bind”. He will reveal a fascinating, yet disturbing portrait of the new stresses adolescent girls face today, and their very real inherent associated dangers. Dr. Hinshaw is an internationally recognized psychologist and researcher whose work related to troubled children has been featured in all the major market newspapers and on network television newscasts.

Lisa Tener, an established book and writing coach; published author, and public speaker, who serves as a faculty member in the continuing education program at the Harvard Medical School, will give advice on developing a book proposal and getting published, to finding one’s creative voice, prioritizing projects, promoting one’s work, setting clear goals and developing a system for creative success. Stern, a nationally recognized personal empowerment expert, author and licensed psychotherapist, who has dedicated her life to empowering others to embrace the wonder of life by helping people develop the skills to close the gap between what could be, and what is, has over 25 years of experience as an educator, trainer, and private practice psychotherapist treating individuals, couples and groups.
