The RI and SEMA Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) today announced that it has met and far surpassed its 2008 $1 Million Goal by raising almost $1,075,000.

The CFC is an annual workplace giving campaign, the only one of its kind authorized by the Federal Government. It is held in the fall and provides federal employees (military, civilian and postal) with an opportunity to contribute to local, national and international organizations that provide a broad spectrum of vital programs and services.

“I am in awe and am humbled by the generosity of the federal employees in RI and SEMA,” said CFC Director Elizabeth Comeau. The $1,075,000 represents a 5% increase in giving from the previous year’s campaign. “In any year, a 5% increase would be considered substantial but, this year, the generosity of the federal workforce represents an enormous self sacrifice,” said LFCC Chair Vincent Marzullo. Marzullo is one of several federal employees who serve on the Local Federal Coordinating Committee – a group of federal volunteers who are charged with overseeing the conduct of the CFC. Marzullo is the State Director of the Corporation for National & Community Service.

The dollars raised in 2008 will be distributed to local, national and international CFC participating charities in 2009.
