NEW BEDFORD – On the heels of an aggressive grant-making year – the Women’s Fund made over $135,000 in awards in support of women and girls in 2009 – the Fund is accepting proposals for 2010 grants.
Interested organizations must submit a Letter of Inquiry, followed by a full proposal, if notified after review of the initial letter. Deadline for Letters of Inquiry is April 30. Proposal deadline, for notified organizations, is June 1.
The Women’s Fund focuses on supporting Bristol and Plymouth County-based organizations, and because the Fund is small and seeks to effect social change, it is particularly interested in funding neighborhood-based efforts that provide programs and services to low-income women and girls. Action Award grants are limited to $5,000 per organization, and are made only to organizations that maintain Section 501(c)3, tax-exempt status.
During 2009, grants were made to local groups including: Our Sisters’ School; the Ocean Explorium in support of Women in Science month; Bridgewater State’s Mass Aggression Reduction Center for Cyber-bullying Prevention training for girls; and Keith Middle School for after-school programming for middle-school girls.
