Local wine making class now available for anyone interested in creating homemade wine

PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island – According to Wine Market Council, 53% of wine drinkers are women. So why are more women not engaging in the wine making pastime?

Launched in September by Emanuella Petrucci, Women Wine Making is a Rhode Island-based wine making class for anyone interested in creating their own homemade wine. Attendees learn the “Phases of Wine Making” and undertake the step-by-step process to transfer wine juice to alcohol, as well as bottling and labeling the final product. When finished, participants have created 22-24 bottles of their own wine.

“It’s simply a wonderful bonding experience for men, women and couples,” said Petrucci who was born in Italy and taught the winemaking process by her father.

“We offer private individual or group classes in the convenience of your home. Invite a few close friends and enjoy the course together. The hostess will receive a complimentary wine making kit,” said Petrucci.

In addition to year-round private and group home-based classes, Women Wine Making is being offered as “Wine Making 101,” a six week course at the Learning Connection in Providence from October 12-December 22.

A green company, Women Wine Making is partnering with Waterman Grille Restaurant on a sustainable program to recycle wine bottles. The restaurant is graciously donating its used wine bottles to the homemade wine making company for use in its courses.

In March 2013, Women Wine Making will host its 1st Annual New England Women and Men Homemade Wine Competition.
