SCLT hosts Urban Agriculture Kick-Off events April 8

PROVIDENCE – Starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, the Southside Community Land Trust will host four simultaneous Urban Agriculture Kick-Off events throughout the city.

That morning, four sites will host an agriculture expert to answer questions about chemical-free gardening and how to get the most out of small plots, containers and backyard gardens. The locations are: 60 Sessions St.; 40 Florence St.; 227 Dudley St.; and 16 Ring St.

SCLT will be giving away non-GMO, organic and heirloom vegetable, herb and flower seeds as well as sharing helpful tips on how to have a successful growing season.

Running for two hours, these informational sessions are free and open to the public. New SCLT members and those renewing for 2017, including anyone who joins that day, can bring home up to 50 gallons of free, organic compost. A membership card and a way to transport the compost is all that is needed.
