RDW Group Inc. tied for first place with the most Bell Ringer Awards, given yesterday evening by The Publicity Club of New England at its annual awards ceremony, held at The Boston Marriott Copley Place.

Providence-based RDW garnered 13 first-place Bell Ringers, as well as eight merit awards, for excellence and achievement in communication and public relations in 2006. Tying the firm for the most Bell Ringers was Waltham, Mass.-based Schwartz Communications, which added nine merit awards to its collection.

Winning the third-most Bell Ringer awards in the contest was Providence’s The Fenton Group, which took home six trophies; it added five more merit awards in the competition, which has been contested since 1969 and is judged by members of the public relations, marketing/communications and media communities based on planning, execution and accomplishment of the marketing and communication objectives.

Also honored at the event was RDW Chairman Michael Doyle, who was given the John J. Molloy Crystal Bell for lifetime achievement in the field of communications.

Bell Ringer Awards were given to Rhode Island firms in the following categories for the following campaigns. For a full list of Bell Ringers and merit awards, go to ’Pub Club’ Bell Ringer awards.
