TINLEY PARK, Ill. – Middletown-based KVH Industries Inc. (Nasdaq: KVHI) has been honored by General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada as a Supplier of the Year.

The award was presented in a ceremony at KVH’s Illinois facility, which produces TacNav tactical navigation systems for military vehicles used around the world. It also produces fiber-optic gyros used in a variety of commercial and military applications.

“We are extremely proud of the role that KVH and our products play in keeping U.S. and allied soldiers safe and on course, through precision navigation systems on vehicles built by GDLS-C,” said David Laird, KVH’s defense program manager, who attended the ceremony at Tinley Park.

In ranking KVH among this year’s five top suppliers, the General Dynamics division cited the contractor’s excellence in categories including on-time delivery, response to technical information requests, repair status updates and quotes – for “keeping everything running smoothly … and for keeping up exceptional manufacturing and quality standards,” Laird said.

“Our military manufacturing and quality team in Tinley Park – and our military staff in Middletown, R.I. – do great work every day,” he added, saying: “It’s a group effort, and these folks have earned the great honor they’ve received from GDLS-C.”

The award follows a similar Vendor of the Year award presented to KVH recently by the Army Tank and Automotive Command.
