PROVIDENCE – The Citizens Bank Foundation recently announced it will donate $75 to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank for every strikeout recorded by Pawtucket Red Sox pitchers this season, up to $75,000.
It is part of the “Strike Out Hunger” program, a partnership among Citizens, the food bank, the PawSox and Cox Communications.
In addition to Citizens’ donations, the PawSox will hold special food drives during games at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket on May 7, June 11, July 20 and Aug. 3. At each of those games, the first 1,000 patrons to donate two cans of tuna will get in free.
Cox Communications has created a public-service announcement promoting the campaign, for broadcast on local cable TV.
