SMITHFIELD – The just-completed Hampton Inn & Suites will host its grand opening next week.
The official ribbon-cutting at the 101-room hotel will take place Thursday, May 8, according to operating company Shield Hotel Management.

The new facility will be “highly competitive in our local market,” the general manager, Najwa Murphy, said in a statement this week.
The hotel, located on a 4.4-acre parcel at 945 Douglas Pike, is owned by 44 Hersha Smithfield LLC.
