Milwaukee management firm to run W.W. water park

WEST WARWICK – A Milwaukee-based management corporation has been chosen to run the planned 7th Wave Water Park Resort.

Construction of the $150 million water park is expected to begin in August, with a tentative completion slated for the first quarter of 2010, Marcus Hotels and Resorts, a division of The Marcus Corporation, said in an announcement Wednesday.

Along with a 75,000-square-foot indoor water park and 53,000-square-foot outdoor water park, the “Hawaiian- and surfer-themed” park is set to have 409 guest rooms, 12,000 square feet of meeting space, a dinner theater, an arcade and retail store.

The resort will be owned by Dial Family Products, a subsidiary of Nebraska-based property management and development group The Dial Cos.

“Our two companies share a commitment to providing an exceptional guest experience through the amenities we offer and the excellent service provided by our associates,” Dial Cos. President Michael Day said in a statement yesterday.

Bill Otto, president of Marcus Hotels and Resorts, added that managing the resort is key to the company’s plans to expand into the Northeast.
