PROVIDENCE - The R.I. Department of Environmental Management will hold a roundtable discussion this coming Monday, May 12, of Rhode Island Housing’s KeepSpace Community initiative.
The meeting, slated for 3 p.m. at the Rhode Island Association of Realtors’ office in Warwick, will focus on a proposed project at the Cranston Print Works site. DEM officials will discuss the model the department intends to use to review and expedite permits for that and similar projects.

The KeepSpace initiative – launched in August – is a $10 million investment intended to fund or partially fund up to five projects throughout the state. Each project must create more places were people can live, work and shop within walking distance.
“If you take all of these elements separately, I think we could all imagine how we could put these elements together better,” Richard Godfrey, executive director of Rhode Island Housing, said in announcing the initiative. “Instead of seeing the built and natural environments colliding, think about how all these elements can work together.”
Rhode Island Housing is a self-sustaining state agency that helps Rhode Islanders to obtain homes they can afford, offering loans, grants and consumer education. To learn more, visit www.RhodeIslandHousing.org.
