LIN TV, DirecTV reach agreement
By PBN Staff

PROVIDENCE – LIN TV Corp. announced earlier this week that it had reached an agreement with DirecTV to have LIN TV’s signals from its television stations in 15 markets retransmitted in both analog and high-definition signals. The deal includes WPRI-TV (CBS) and WNAC-TV (Fox) in Providence.

“Our stations are leaders in their markets,” said Vincent L. Sadusky, president and chief executive officer of LIN TV. “We’ve made substantial investments to bring our viewers high-definition digital programming. The agreement reflects fair value to both parties and is in the best interest of the consumer.”

LIN TV Corp. (NYSE: TVL) owns or operates 29 television stations and Web sites in 17 mid-sized U.S. markets. Its stations include WNAC (Fox) and WPRI (CBS) in Providence; WWLP (NBC) in Springfield, Mass.; and WTNY (ABC) and WCTX (MyNetworkTV) in the Hartford-New Haven region.
