BatchBlue to present at ProvGeeks tonight

By PBN Staff

PROVIDENCE – Leaders of Barrington-based software-as-a-service startup BatchBlue Software LLC will give the feature presentation tonight (Wednesday, June 18) at the Providence Geeks’ monthly dinner.

President Pamela O’Hara and User Experience Designer Adam Darowski will be talking about “how they are enjoying the ride and staying focused,” Geeks co-founder Jack Templin said in announcing the event.

The company’s first product – BatchBook, an online and communications management utility that recently had its official release – was praised last week by a writer for the online Web Worker Daily, who called the utility his “contact manager of choice.”A public beta version of BatchBook was launched last September at DEMOfall 07 in San Diego, where it was one of 70 products showcased by conference organizers. BatchBlue continues to rely on customer feedback to drive its development efforts, O’Hara and Darowski have said.

A recent blog entry by Sean Ransom, BatchBlue’s vice president of technology, gives a closer look at that philosophy: “Even when they are telling you your software is crap and to please cancel my account, take a deep breath and listen,” he writes. “There is always something you can find to improve upon. Always.”

Ransom’s post – entitled Being Customer-Focused Means Actually Listening – can be viewed at the Ocean State’s official online IT and digital media hub, RInexus.com. (The site is sponsored by the R.I. Economic Development Corporation.)

As usual, this month’s Geek Dinner will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at AS220, 115 Empire St. Topics of conversation vary, but typically include discussion about AJAX, mash-ups, startups, new devices, innovative business models, interaction design, social computing, digital art and Web services.

The event’s name is bit of a misnomer, as dinner is optional. But beverages and food will be offered for sale at the bar and Taqueria Pacifica, which adjoin the meeting space.

BatchBlue Software LLC is a Barrington-based startup focused on developing software-as-a-service products for small businesses. Its first product is an online contact and communications management utility called BatchBook. For more information, visit www.BatchBlue.com.
