CRANSTON – Del’s Lemonade & Refreshments Inc. is teaming up with Canadian coffee and doughnut shop Tim Hortons to bring its frozen lemonade to the company’s 50 locations across southern New England, the companies said today.
“Partnering with a company like Tim Hortons gives us here at Del’s even more locations to offer our products throughout Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts,” Del’s President Bruce DeLucia said in a statement today. “We’re excited to begin our relationship with the Tim Hortons brand and [are] looking forward to many more opportunities this partnership brings to the Del’s Lemonade brand.”
Angelo DeLucia opened the first Del’s stand in Cranston six decades ago, and local customers have been “stopping at the sign of the lemon” on hot summer days ever since.
The company now sells its Del’s Soft Frozen Lemonade at locations across New England, and in New York, Pennsylvania, California, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Nevada, Texas, Wisconsin, the U.S. Virgin Islands and British Columbia. But it still uses the same recipe, which the DeLucia family traces back to the founder’s great-grandfather in Naples, Italy.
“Having such a successful and local company like Del’s Lemonade in our stores is an exciting venture for Tim Hortons,” said Mike Meilleur, the Canadian company’s vice president of operations for the Eastern United States. “Our owners, employees and customers all know and love the Del’s brand, and we’re thrilled to have their name associated with our stores.”
Tim Hortons – the fourth-largest publicly traded “quick-service” restaurant chain in North America, based on market capitalization – was founded in Hamilton, Ontario in 1964. It has grown to 3,238 restaurants, including 399 in the United States. For more information, visit www.TimHortons.com.
