PROVIDENCE and ST. LOUIS – Television and digital media company LIN TV Corp. (NYSE: TVL), parent of WNAC Channel 64 and WPRI Channel 12, has reached a retransmission agreement with cable operator Charter Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: CHTR), extending the relationship between the two companies.
“We are extremely pleased to have reached a fair market agreement with Charter,” Gregory M. Schmidt, LIN TV’s executive vice president for digital media, said in a statement last week, “and we look forward to broadening and deepening this relationship as we move together into the digital future.”
Analog and digital TV signals from 13 LIN stations – in the Providence; Hartford-New Haven; Springfield, Mass.; Grand Rapids, Mich.; Green Bay, Wis.; Norfolk, Va.; Dayton, Ohio; and Toledo, Ohio markets – are currently carried by Charter.
“We are pleased to have signed this agreement with LIN TV for the benefit of our customers,” said Ted Schremp, executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Charter. “In addition, we look forward to expanding our high-definition [HDTV] programming with LIN TV stations in many of these communities.”
LIN TV Corp. (NYSE: TVL) owns or operates 29 television stations and Web sites in 17 mid-sized U.S. markets.
