WARWICK – SafeData LLC, a technology company focused on helping companies protect data, minimize downtime and recover and restore data quickly, has launched a new technology-management product.
The new product, called Managed High Availability Services, will provide organizations with continuous system monitoring and problem resolution, audits and scheduled switch tests to enhance the reliability of their high-availability systems, SafeData said.
As evidence of the need, SafeData cited research from technology consultancy Gartner Inc. (www.gartner.com), which found that half of all companies’ high-availability systems fail disaster-recovery tests. More worryingly, almost no companies conduct full disaster-recovery testing, Gartner found. It cited a knowledge deficit and limited IT resources as the reasons for the lack of preparedness.
“The IT resources in businesses today are stretched very thin, and running a stable replication system still remains a complex process,” said Peter Briggs, president of SafeData, in a statement accompanying last week’s announcement. “Many IT departments don't perform periodic role swaps and don’t correct errors as often as they should,” Briggs said. “Our managed services offering takes the guesswork out of running high-availability.”
