ASA CHOSE South County Commons for its new Rhode Island home in part to accommodate clients and office culture.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN – After 25 years in Narragansett, Applied Science Associates Inc. has relocated to a 10,000-square-foot office in South County Commons.

The move, ASA announced, is an “integral” part of the direction in which the company is headed. The new environment – high ceilings, large windows and advanced technology and communications – will set “a tone consistent with ASA’s innovative technology development and relaxed culture.”

The company also cited the nearby Hampton Inn, also in South County Commons, as affecting its decision to relocate. That hotel will serve visiting clients and staffers, it said.

“The new facilities offer an attractive long-term leasing opportunity, coupled with an extremely functional area for both administrative and research needs,” CEO Eoin Howlett said in a statement. “We are just minutes away from the campuses of the University of Rhode Island and also near Providence, so we have great access to world-class universities and new science and technology graduates.”

ASA is a global science and technology solutions company specializing in the analysis of marine, freshwater, air, and land resources; computer modeling of physical, chemical, and biological processes; geographic information systems (GIS); operational research; and data display.

Last year, it designed a software application for the Port Security Training and Exercise Program (PortStep), a 40-city series of tests conducted by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the Coast Guard. (READ MORE)
