BOTN NEW SVPs “have tremendous experience and are innovative thinkers,” President and CEO Vincent L. Sadusky said today. “Their skills and experience will help LIN TV achieve its goals of growth and efficiency in our traditional broadcasting and digital operations.”

PROVIDENCE – LIN TV (NYSE: TVL), parent of local television stations WPRI CBS Channel 12 and WNAC Fox Channel 64, today announced the appointment of two high-level executives: Richard Schmaeling, joining the company as senior vice president and chief financial officer; and Robert Richter, being promoted to senior vice president for new media.

Both Richter and Schmaeling will report directly to Vincent L. Sadusky, the company’s president and CEO.

Schmaeling most recently was vice president of finance at Dow Jones & Co. Inc., where he he “directed a team of 225 professionals and managed the financial planning, analysis, general accounting and transaction processing services for nine business units worldwide,” LIN TV said in its announcement. He was active in both “the transformation of Dow Jones into a more diversified, multimedia” operation and its acquisition by News Corp., the company said.

Schmaeling has more than 20 years of financial and operational experience. As CFO, he “will oversee LIN TV’s financial management business processes,” the company said.

Richter has served as LIN TV’s vice president, Internet, since joining the company in 2006. During his tenure, the company has “launched more than 50 Web sites to date and achieved a 50-percent increase in impressions from the first half of 2007 to the first half of 2008,” as well as a 140-percent increase in “time on site,” LIN TV said. Richter previously had served as vice president of marketing and sales planning for Shop NBC.

His promotion to senior vice president for new media “will position LIN TV to further capitalize on digital media growth and opportunity,” the company said. In his new role, “Richter will oversee all digital operations, including interactive, mobile and new ventures,” LIN TV added.

“We are fortunate to have such outstanding leaders on our management team,” Sadusky said in a statement today. “Both Rich [Schmaeling] and Robb [Richter] have tremendous experience and are innovative thinkers. Their skills and experience will help LIN TV achieve its goals of growth and efficiency in our traditional broadcasting and digital operations.”
