Brown student wins youth-entrepreneur contest

PROVIDENCE – Brown University student Emma Clippinger has been named co-winner of the Staples “Youth Social Entrepreneur” competition, organized by Ashoka, a community of leading social entrepreneurs, and Staples Foundation for Learning, a private foundation created by Staples Inc.

The online competition, created on Ashoka’s Changemakers platform, asked young people around the world to showcase how their projects are leading positive change and making an impact within their communities.

Clippinger is co-founder of Gardens for Health International, which targets malnutrition, HIV/AIDS and poverty in Rwanda. Gardens for Health International beat out four other finalist teams chosen for their impact, innovation and commitment to their community. •
