Carcieri to speak at R.I. biotech forum
Tech Collective co-hosts with new N.E. Biotech Association
PROVIDENCE – Gov. Donald L. Carcieri will discuss the role of state government in fostering Rhode Island’s biotechnology and life sciences industry at a breakfast event tomorrow.
The Bio Government Affairs Forum is being presented by the Tech Collective’s Rhode Island Bio Group and the New England Biotech Association (NEBA). It will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Providence Marriott Downtown hotel, One Orms St.
Tech Collective spokeswoman Giselle LaFrance said Carcieri plans to speak about biotechnology tax credits in Rhode Island; follow-on biologics; a bill concerning intellectual property and generics; the “gift ban” bill that would prohibit biotech and pharmaceutical companies from giving gifts to doctors; and kindergarten through college undergraduate (K to 20) math and science education. He will also take questions.
The event is free for all NEBA members and their guests, but anyone who would like to attend must register online at tech-collective.org/events.
On-site check-in will start tomorrow at 7:30 a.m., and the forum will run from 8 to 9 a.m. Breakfast will be served.
