New officers take reigns of RIAR

New officers at the Rhode Island Association of Realtors officially started their duties this week after returning from the National Association of Realtors’ annual convention in San Diego.

Karl Martone, of RE/MAX Properties in Smithfield, will serve as president of the 4,300-member association. He is a long-standing member of the association’s board of directors; past president of State-Wide Multiple Listing Service Inc. of Rhode Island; and a recipient of the 2008 Realtor of the Year award. Martone has been a Realtor since 1985, and a licensed broker since 1988. Martone takes the reigns from Paul Leys of Gustave White Sotheby’s International Realty in Newport.

Other officers include:

• President-elect Stephen Antoni of RE/MAX Professionals in East Greenwich.

• Vice President Jamie Moore of Jamie Moore Appraisal Service in Warwick.

• Treasurer Victoria Doran of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Providence.

• Secretary Sussy DeLeon of RE/MAX New Horizons in Providence.

The association is one of more than 1,800 local groups of Realtors comprising the nation’s largest trade association, the National Association of Realtors. The national group last week installed Warwick Realtor Ron Phipps of Phipps Realty as its 2010 president-elect.
