YWCA hosts Women Holding Office celebration

LINCOLN – In celebration of their sesquicentennial, or 150th anniversary, YWCA Rhode Island is hosting its 8th annual Women Holding Office celebration and Isabelle Ahearn O’Neill Awards with a reception at the Kirkbrae Country Club in Lincoln.

Keynote speaker for the reception is Julia S. Jordan-Zachery, director of black studies and professor of public and community service studies at Providence College. Her research focuses on African-American women and their interactions with public policy. She is the author of the blog Sapphire Unbound, which seeks to challenge the invisibility of African-American women in policy and politics.

Complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be available at the event, for which tickets are $25 and must be reserved in advance because seating is limited.
